ABOUT IT STARTED OFF SO NICE
It Started Off So Nice, Like Everything Does, works with familiar imagery to explore unfamiliar ground. Through manipulation and collage, recognizable images taken from cartoons and comics are twisted into a new context. These paintings and drawings explore animation’s darker undertones. Line and background, rather than character, come to the forefront, creating something abstract yet eerily rooted in a language familiar to anyone acquainted with early animation.
